The bank opened its first business office at the Freeport, Bushrod Island on July 18, 2008.

UBA (Liberia) Ltd. Was incorporated as a private limited liability company on October 10, 2006 and was granted a full banking license by the Central Bank of Liberia on July 17, 2008. The bank opened its first business office at the Freeport, Bushrod Island on July 18, 2008.

History

The initial capital investment of UBA (Liberia) Ltd. is US$6,000,000 (Six Million United States Dollars) with additional capital investment of US$1,000,000(One Million United States Dollars). UBA (Liberia) Ltd have seven branches, four cash centers, and more than two Hundred and Seventy Five (275) staff.

UBA (Liberia) strategic framework is derived from the Group (UBA Plc.).  The Group strategic vision is “To be the undisputed leading and dominant financial services institution in Africa”. The mission is “To be a role model for African businesses by creating superior value for all stakeholders, abiding by the utmost professional and ethical standards, and by building an enduring institution”.

UBA Liberia is at present, the leader in the Digital banking space in Liberia and is controlling the market in term of local currency ATM machines operations, Visa prepaid cards, MasterCard, etc.

UBA Liberia capital adequacy and liquidity ratios remained well above the minimum requirements of 10.0 percent and 15.0 percent, respectively.  UBA Liberia is also the moving force in the financial industry in just the last few years.

With compliance being a demand on all UBA subsidiaries and staff in every aspect by UBA Plc, UBA Liberia in her effort to be in full compliance with this mandate and demand from Group was named the most compliant bank in Liberia in 2017 by the Central Bank of Liberia.
